I first started birdwatching back in 1984 and made my first birdphotograph in '86.
Living very near to Zeebrugge, Belgium's number 1 site for vagrants, I've had the opportunity to see many of Belgium's rareties from an early age. Later on I got hooked on twitching and went to see rareties further afield.
Over the years I've built up a collection of rare bird photographs. Some of them have already appeared on the net but mostly on temporary websites. It is my aim to feature them on a permanent website so they can be used for future reference.
I started my photography using a 300 mm Minolta lens. In '89 I bought a second hand 600 mm Novoflex and in '93 I switched to a 600 mm F 5.6 Nikon lens. Since January 2004 I have opted to no longer use traditional film but to use a digital body.
My current kit : Canon 500 mm F4 + Canon 10D body and tele-extenders.
